which makes a series or recommendations for education reform of Albuquerque
Public Schools. From the report the GACC has developed an legislative agenda.
Legislative Education Study Committee (LESC)

is authorized by statute to conduct a continuing study of education
and of laws governing education in New Mexico as well as of the policies and
costs of the New Mexico education system. The committee is also responsible
for recommending changes in laws relating to education and for reporting its

Is a state-wide organization that works to build consensus among various, primarily
business organizations, on key legislative education issues.
New Mexico Commission on Higher Education

Develops and advocates recommendations on behalf of the two and four
year postsecondary education institutions in the state of New Mexico.
New Mexico First

Does a series of Town Halls around the state on topics of public interest. New
Mexico First have done several on education the most recent, June 1999, entitled
K-12 Education in New Mexico: Benchmarks for the New Millennium. From that Town
Hall there was created an implementation team that has take some legislative

New Mexico Legislative Education Accountability and
Initiatives Task Force
A bi-partisan group studied the issues relating to education and developed a report on education with a series of recommendations for education in New Mexico. The Task Force developed legislation in support of the recommendations.
